Mike Smith

The smooth sound of saxophone will complement any drinks reception or corporate evening. Playing Soprano, Tenor and Alto Sax, Mike can adapt his performance to whatever style of music you have in mind. He has many years of experience performing for all kinds of social occasions, and he can tailor his act to suit your needs. Mike is an experienced musician, bandleader, composer, teacher and arranger! At the age of fifteen he performed live on TV's Granada Tonight with a number of bands. Since then he has played at over 40 festivals worldwide, accompanying bands who range from small funk outfits and cabaret bands to full jazz orchestras. Mike was asked to represent Sefton when he was 17 at the Polish International Arts festival held in Gdansk. He performed to a crowd of 20,000 with his band The Mike Smith Group. In the last two years notable venues have included The Millennium Dome, The Royal Festival Hall, The Liverpool Philharmonic Hall as well as Glastonbury and Cropredy Festivals. After accepting his First Class honours degree from Sir Paul McCartney at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, Mike toured Russia with the Beatles Live Festival, throughout Europe with the Muffin Men and in the UK with Sam Brown's Band. He will perform live to backing tracks or can add a female vocalist and pianist to make duo or trio options depending on your requirements.
